ICE242 is a project focused on civic awareness and the principle that public authority must operate within the rule of law.
The name references 18 U.S.C. § 242, a federal criminal civil rights statute that makes it a crime for government officials acting under color of law to willfully deprive a person of rights protected by the Constitution or federal law.
ICE242 is not centered on a single law. The purpose of the project is broader — to encourage a better understanding of how constitutional rights, civil rights laws, and government authority intersect.
These concepts are closely related, but they are not identical. Understanding where they overlap — and where they differ — can help people better understand how the legal system is intended to function.
Many people encounter situations where something feels wrong but are unsure what legal protections actually exist or where those protections come from. ICE242 aims to encourage curiosity about these questions and provide a starting point for learning about the legal principles that shape the relationship between citizens and public authority.

Our first design — “Intimidation Is Not Authority” — reflects that idea directly.

This project is being built carefully and deliberately. Each design is tested through a print-on-demand process to ensure quality before expanding to additional educational content and products.
